Poster abstracts submission has now closed. 64 abstracts were received. Most speakers and topics now confirmed.

Conference registrations are nearly at capacity (420 participants) with some students already on a waiting list. Please register before 5 September to guarantee your place.

Is challenging European innovators to come up with a food scanner, an ICT-based solution to measure and analyse people’s food intake, and win a Horizon Prize. Participants will compete to develop the most innovative and affordable solution. This €1 million prize will be split into a maximum of three awards: € 800,000 will go to the winner and € 100,000 each to the first and second runner-ups.

Draft general scientific guidance for stakeholders on health claim applications. Deadline 11 Sept. ‘15

The guidance aims to explain the general scientific principles applied by the NDA Panel for the evaluation of all health claims and outlines a series of steps for the compilation of health claim applications. Draft scientific and technical guidance for the assessment of products notified as food for special medical purposes in the context of Article 3 of Regulation (EU) No 609/2013.

Deadline 11 Sept. ‘15

The guidance is for assisting in the preparation and presentation of well-structured dossiers for food products notified as foods for special medical purposes (FSMPs). It presents a common format for the organisation of the information to be provided and outlines the information and scientific data which must be included in the dossier, as well as the key issues which should be addressed in the dossier in order to assess the extent to which a food product notified as FSMP falls under the scope of Regulation (EU) No 609/2013, under the proposed use.

Draft scientific opinion on “recent developments in the risk assessment of chemicals in food and their potential impact on the safety assessment of substances used in food contact materials”. Deadline 7 Oct. ‘15

EFSA’s Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) has launched an open consultation on its draft opinion on recent developments in the risk assessment of chemicals in food and their potential impact on the safety assessment of substances used in food contact materials. This document is not intended to be a guidance document. Together with a report on this public consultation, it will provide the European Commission with the scientific basis for a discussion amongst risk managers on possible implications on risk management
