EFAD News

EFAD conference

We have confirmed speakers from the European Food Safety Authority and the European Commission. Most of the roundtables are now finalised. Check www.efadconference.com to see the latest developments. Registrations are coming in fast – remember numbers are limited this year – don’t miss your place!

Early bird registration ends on 30 June. Submission of poster abstracts until 1 July.

 

Behaviour Change Survey prize winners announced

589 dietitians completed the survey: “Resources for changing behaviour: supporting European dietitians using behaviour change in their practice”. The survey was part of a wider package of work titled: “European dietitians’ requirements for behaviour change resources to support their practice” which includes the workshop held at the EFAD conference last year, the survey and a resource kit that is being developed.

The winner of the first prize of an all-expenses paid trip to the EFAD Conference in Amsterdam is Rea Kuehl from Switzerland. Four runners-up each receive registration and accommodation to attend the EFAD Conference. They are Madalina Todea from Romania, Valeria Brembilla from Italy, Eliz Arter from Cyprus and Lavinia Lorena Pruteanu from Romania.

The European Food Safety Authority has selected Dr. Andrea Mikkelsen of the The Swedish Association of Clinical Dietitians (DRF) to advise their stakeholder focus group on allergernicity. Congratulations Andrea and thank you to all the excellent candidates who submitted nominations at such short notice.

 

Other news

European Nutrition for Health Alliance have released a report of a conference held in Dubrovnik in April to promote ONCA – Optimal Nutritional Care for All (attached). Anne de Looy, EFAD President, co-chaired the meeting.

On the occasion of European Patients’ Rights Day, held 12 May 2015, the European Commission released a new factsheet on 10 benefits of being a patient in the European Union.

Huge success: 70,000 school kids take part in European Healthy School Lunches »

On 8 May, 70,000 children in Milan from pre-school to secondary schools were treated to healthy meals prepared from European recipes. The European Commission initiative was held to promote healthy diets for children and showcase the EU’s work in children’s nutrition.

The American Hospitals Association has identified 8 steps hospitals can take to reduce patient malnutrition
