5.    World Digestive Health Day

May 29th is World Digestive Health Day (WDHD). It is marked every year by patients and healthcare professionals around the world to remember and raise awareness of the many patients who suffer from digestive disorders.

This year focuses on “Heartburn: A Global Challenge”. Chronic heartburn is often underestimated as a symptom for a more severe chronic condition: gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). It is the most common digestive disease in Europe, affecting 20% of the European population. Although it is so common, there is little public awareness of the risk factors and how unhealthy nutrition and obesity, contribute to developing GORD.

EFAD is therefore supporting United European Gastroenterology (UEG), the European Society of Neurology and Motility (ESNM) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), who have produced a short educational animation video (link to follow).

About World Digestive Health Day

Launched in 2005 by the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO), the WDHD is held each year to raise awareness of different health issues related to the gastrointestinal tract. The theme for this year’s edition is “Heartburn: A Global Challenge”.

6.    Cystic Fibrosis APP

The MyCyFAPP  project, financed by the European Commission under the Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 is tailored designed and will be clinically validated for Cystic Fibrosis self-management and monitoring becoming a competitive market product in Europe. This APP will have a key role as a decision support system, boosting the growth and competitiveness of the participating SMEs in Europe, which will ensure the market uptake and the MyCyFAPP distribution for the benefit of the patient. Latest press release attached.  More information under http://www.mycyfapp.eu/en/

Kindest regards
