EFAD newsflash – Latvian presidency conference; Leadership skills; student network

EFAD LOFODear Colleagues,

Three items for this week’s newsflash:

The Latvian presidency conference on “healthy lifestyles, nutrition and physical activity” took place on 23-24 February 2015.

EFAD was represented at the conference by Prof. Agneta Hörnell, Chair of the EFAD Education and Lifelong Learning Committee, who presented “Special catering at schools for children with coeliac disease, food allergies, lactose intolerance etc.: related challenges and the role of the dietitian”.

The link to all the presentations (including Agneta’s), video and photos is:

Leadership skills are necessary to meet the EFAD mission of “supporting member Associations in developing the role that dietitians have in reducing inequalities and improving nutritional health in Europe”. The company that teaches advanced leadership skills on the European Nutrition Leadership Programme (ENLP) recently sent an email, with a fun quiz for you to check out your own leadership skills. Developing leadership skills is an important part of Lifelong Learning and there are many programmes available, so please “shop around” before deciding which programme is the right one for you. ENLP courses are held annually in Luxembourg http://enlp.eu.com/en/home/comingsoon

Finally, Anne & I had the pleasure recently of talking to Belgian students in both Geel (Anne) and Leuven (Judith), about EFAD and the WHO Food and Nutrition Action Plan. The EFAD student network (ENDietS) continues to grow – with over 500 students in 33 countries already signed up. Please promote the ENDietS by forwarding this link http://www.efad.org/everyone/4621/5/0/32 to all relevant people.

Kindest regards

Judith Liddell

EFAD Secretary General
