Consultation: Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030)
The WHO Secretariat, in collaboration with other UN agencies and in consultation with youth, Member States and major partners, has drafted the global implementation guidance for Accelerated Action for the Health of Adolescents (AA-HA! guidance). Its aim is to support the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030). Input is now requested from governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, youth groups and citizens. The online survey is open from 15 December 2016 to 15 January 2017. Make sure to respond before the deadline so that your comments can influence and be incorporated into the final document.

The Global Prevalence Map has been updated with the latest data for Adults in England (2015), Tanzania (2015-16) and Zimbabwe (2010-11), and Adults & Children in Australia (2014-15) and New Zealand (2015-16).

This week (9th – 15th January 2017) sees the launch of the first World Folic Acid Awareness Week. The event has been initiated by the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (IF), the organisation behind the successful launch last year of the pioneering Global Prevention Initiative (GPI). Production and sales growth on the rise
• In Q3 2016, EU food and drink industry production increased by 1%.
• EU food and drink industry turnover increased by 1.5% compared to the previous quarter.
• The year-on-year comparison shows that food and drink industry turnover performed better than total manufacturing turnover (1.7% vs. 0.3% compared to Q3 2015). Total manufacturing production growth slightly exceeded food and drink industry production (1.4% vs. 1% compared to Q3 2015).
• Food manufacturing prices increased by 0.9% in Q3 2016, and were 0.6% lower compared to Q3 2015.
